Full-stack AI engineering across data infrastructure, GenAI workflows, application integration, and MLOps.
Apply →About the Role
ThirdAct Labs is seeking enthusiastic and self-driven AI Engineer Interns to join our remote team. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience working directly with modern AI frameworks, data stacks, and cloud technologies. While this is an unpaid internship, we'll evaluate high-performing candidates for a full-time paid role after 3 months.
The Full-Stack AI Expectation
You will not be siloed into a single narrow function. We expect you to get hands-on experience across the entire AI engineering lifecycle:
- Data & Infrastructure: Build the underlying cloud and data infrastructure including knowledge graphs.
- GenAI Workflows: Working with frameworks to build Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and agentic workflows.
- Application Integration: Wiring up backend AI logic to the final user experience using modern frontend frameworks.
- MLOps: Assisting with deploying, testing, monitoring, and evaluating model outputs for accuracy and reliability.
What You Will Do
- Reason through system design decisions and tradeoffs alongside the founding team before generating code.
- Research, build, and test AI models and applications, using AI coding tools as collaborators to move faster.
- Validate and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs for correctness, reliability, and alignment with system requirements.
- Generate clean, maintainable code and help integrate AI features into core systems and web interfaces.
- Debug and improve existing data infrastructure, workflows, and applications.
What We Are Looking For
- Genuine curiosity, high learning velocity, and strong problem-solving instincts — the ability to break down unfamiliar systems matters more than any specific framework.
- Bachelors/Master of Engineering — any backgrounds with demonstrated technical aptitude are welcome; foundational programming ability (e.g., Python, JavaScript/TypeScript) and a deep interest in AI.
- Comfort using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Codex, Claude, Cursor) as collaborators — you move faster with them but still understand the system you're building.
- A self-starter mentality capable of communicating effectively and thriving in a fully remote work environment.
- A reliable personal computer capable of handling standard software development workloads (BYOD).
What We Offer
- Direct mentorship and practical experience building real-world AI solutions from the ground up across the tech stack.
- A flexible, remote working environment.
